About this case

Last Reel at the Orpheum is a 1970s cold case set in Dayton, Ohio, in November 1975. Leonard Voss, the owner of a grand old movie palace, is found dead at the foot of the projection booth stair after the midnight show. There are six suspects and one question: who killed him?

The file holds 24 documents from the homicide investigation: police reports, the coroner's findings, witness statements, scene photographs, records and personal papers. You read them in any order and build your own timeline. When your group agrees on one name, you write your proof on the answer sheet at the end of the case file, then open the separate solution file to check.

It suits 1 to 6 players, alone or as a small group, and takes 2 to 3 hours. The 40-page PDF comes in a full colour and a printer-friendly edition. It is a good pick for players who like classic, paper-only cases.

Compared with our other case files, it has the oldest setting in the range and uses the single answer sheet with a separate solution file, like Unlisted. Dead Signal, The Last Encore and The Lighthouse Ferry use three sealed envelopes instead, with new evidence after each answer. It is also our only case set in a cinema.
